The Safety and Security Supervisor is a key member of our team, responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our employees, customers, and assets.
This role requires a strong understanding of safety and security protocols, compliance with applicable NJ cannabis regulations, and a commitment to creating a warm, comfortable and welcoming environment for all.
The ideal candidate will have a background in security management, access control & CCTV, workplace safety or a related field, and a deep understanding of the cannabis industry's unique safety and security requirements and needs.
This position reports directly to Nightjar's Dispensary Manager.

10 Oversee installation, maintenance, and operation of alarm systems, electronic monitoring, video cameras, and panic buttons Prevention of unauthorized access Regular maintenance inspections and tests of the security alarm system Coordination with law enforcement and emergency services as appropriate Develop and maintain access control systems and prohibit unauthorized access and theft Limit entry into areas where cannabis is stored or handled to authorized personnel Ensure outside areas of the cannabis business premises and its perimeter are well-lit, free of debris, and safe for employees and visitors Keep up-to date required contact information issued to law enforcement and neighbors within 100 feet of the cannabis business premises Manage security vendor and 24/7 monitoring of the security alarm system and video surveillance systems Conduct regular safety and security assessments and audits Manage access control for the alarm panel and key lock box for the facility Respond to and investigate incidents, accidents, or security breaches and provide meaningful corrective actions Ensure proper notification during any safety or security event or incident.
Ensure all approved vendors, contractors, or visitors are logged and escorted as needed Workplace Safety:
Management of the OSHA requirements for safety and reporting for the facility Organize and oversee safety training for all staff at the facility Oversee and manage facility emergency action plan Oversight and management of the facility adverse event reporting process Team Leadership, Training and Development:
Lead, manage and develop team of Safety and Security Specialists Participate in hiring, onboarding and scheduling of Safety and Security Specialists Train new dispensary staff on safety and security procedures Conduct regular safety drills and training sessions Foster a safety-conscious culture among employees Provide guidance and support to staff and management in addressing security, safety and facility related concerns Asset Protection:
Oversee inventory security and loss prevention efforts Document and report any issues or concerns with facility related equipment Implement measures to minimize theft and fraud Maintain records of all security-related incidents and activities Qualifications Local to Bloomfield/Montclair/Essex County area.
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred.
Proven experience in security management, workplace safety or a related field.
Knowledge of local and state cannabis safety and security regulations.
Familiarity with security systems, surveillance technology, and access control.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Valid OSHA 10 or OSHA 40 certificate preferred, but not required.
Other Requirements Local to Bloomfield/Newark/Montclair/Essex County area Extended time standing, walking, and being on alert.
Must be eligible to possess a Cannabis Business Identification card from the state Minimum of 21 years of age.
Possess a valid driver's license or state ID card.
Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted (100 pounds with assistance) Job Type:
